Sea ice area ! ... (10 - 12 years old)
When ocean water is cooled by air and the water temperature
drops to - 1.8 °C (28 °F) the sea begins to freeze...
Ice crystals will appear in the water and float to the surface.
As the number of these increases, they congregate to form
a soupy layer on the surface.
When there is wind and waves, continuous sea ice does not
form directly. Patches of ice are formed which then coalesce
and thicken to form a vast expanse of ice ... called SEA ICE !
Find and trace the outlines of the four patches of ice
that have come together to form the sea ice in the drawing !
! ! ! Be careful, all the ice patches are the same shape ! ! !
They all have 4 different polar animals on them.
